Garden Club meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month excluding December and January. The hall is open from 9.30am with the meeting commencing at 10am. A charge of $4.00 is made for visitors who will be most welcome at our meetings. Morning tea is provided by our members, however we ask members to bring along their own mug for tea and coffee.
Guest speakers are a popular feature of each meeting. We have a varied yearly programme of gardening experts coupled with Club members who have developed expertise through a keen interest in gardening. We welcome any suggestions from our members to expand on subjects of interest to gardeners.
Garden Club Library
We have an excellent library with over two hundred garden books, magazines and DVDs. New acquisitions are added to the library each month and the Club’s librarian is happy to receive book recommendations from members as well as donations of gardening books.
A variety of donated plants and seasonal produce is on sale from 9.30am each meeting. The trade table ladies welcome any offerings.
Each month during the meeting we hold a raffle of three beautiful advanced plants with the money going towards general housekeeping, subsidising Club outings, the annual Christmas Garden party, our Library, welfare and upkeep of Nancy Kingsbury Park.
Question and Answers
During Q & A sessions garden queries are answered by members who chair the session. It is a really useful way to seek advice from experienced locals.
Trips are usually made twice a year. These excursions provide an opportunity to visit gardens further afield and gain ideas and inspiration from others. The Club welcomes suggestions for future trips and is happy to subsidise costs in order to maximise the participation of our members.
