Over 40 Years of Friendship and Beautification…
In November 1970, twenty-three residents met at the Royal Hotel (now the Bundanoon Hotel) to form the Bundanoon Beautification and Garden Club. Their purpose was to beautify the village by creating public gardens and planting trees.
These inaugural members laid the foundations of what has now become one of the largest and most popular clubs in the village. By raising funds and doing most of the work themselves, this small group purchased and planted over one thousand trees and shrubs most of which still grace our pretty village today.
In 1988 the club changed its name to Bundanoon Garden Club and Club members continued to support both ongoing maintenance and new projects throughout our village.
By the year 2000 Bundanoon’s population was growing fast and with a new enthusiastic committee in place and a growing membership, the Club continued to flourish. The traditions and ethics of that first small group are still held fast and the Club continues to finance and maintain several public spaces within the village and supports many of the public projects undertaken in this now vital community.
Today we are one of the largest garden clubs in New South Wales and are affiliated with Garden Clubs of Australia. Our friendly monthly meetings provide members with practical gardening information, the resources of a well-stocked library, a flourishing trade table and a variety of informative guest speakers.
As well, the Club has accepted responsibility for the maintenance and beautification of Nancy Kingsbury Park and the Anzac War Memorial Garden; is heavily involved in the annual Bundanoon Garden Ramble, contributes to the local public school and is always willing to work with other groups for the betterment of the village.
